I would like to express appreciation to our Kindergarten teachers and Mrs. Allen for putting together such a wonderful Kindergarten parent training.   The turnout was so large that we had to put out additional chairs.
By way of information, Eric Fieldsted and Josh Bennett will be working in our building to complete their administrative intern hours.  They will be in and out of your classrooms and will be helping throughout the school.  They are both teachers at CHS.  It will be wonderful to have the extra help in our building.
Please let me know if you need help putting together your board presentation videos.  I would like to use this video to provide a DVD for new students who move in during the year.
I would like to thank you for the extra time and effort in preparing and sending out grades.  I hope it provided good feedback for parents.

Thank you so much for all you do.

Faculty News Letter
Jan. 21-25
-->
I hope everyone had a wonderful week and look forward to an extended weekend.
On Tuesday of next week the School Board will recognize our school, along with 3 other Title I schools, for being a High Performing Title I school.  You are all invited to attend that portion of the meeting.  The meeting will begin at 4:00 PM.

If you have parents or people in the community ask you questions regarding enrollment for next year’s dual immersion classes, please let them know that enrollment forms will be available the first week of February.  We will also have a parent meeting Feb. 13th at 5:30 to share information about the program.

Thank you so much for regularly holding your PLCs.  In our last principal’s training, it was emphasized that grade levels should look to establish the same objectives at the same time during the year.  The presentation of the lesson could definitely be different, but the book we are studying, suggests that grade levels should be covering the same material at approximately the same time and have the same objectives.  For the segment of students who fall behind, that is where plans can be developed in the PLC to help intervene.   I know many of you are already doing this, but if not, I would encourage you to work toward aligning more thoroughly.

I hope many of you have taken advantage of the NBC Learn web site.  It looks like it could save quite a bit of time searching the Internet.  It is an impressive program.

I am excited to now have the mother of all projectors mounted in the gym.  It will now be an incredible technological oasis for programs and for East Elementary cinema extravaganzas.  It just gives me goose bumps all over.

I hope you all had a wonderful first week of the new year.  I need to pass on a HUGE congratulations to all of you.  We received the High Performing Title I School Recognition award again this year.  It is so easy to get so bogged down in working hard that we don’t take enough time to celebrate the progress.  This is a great indicator of the wonderful work you each do every day.  Thank you so much for all you do for our kids.

If you would please take a look at the calendar regularly. I had to make a few changes.  Our lock down drill had to be rescheduled for next month to accommodate the police department who will be participating with us.  I also changed the Internet Safety training to avoid conflicts with DIBELS testing.

**If you are renewing your license this year, you must take the suicide prevention training.  Go to the professional development link on the district employees part of the district web site and be sure to sign up to attend the training.   Feb. 11th is the first training.  Here is the link: http://prodev.ironk12.org/ .

Thank you for all of your support on increased safety procedures.  I have also appreciated the suggestions on what we could do to improve.

I am still working on our school app.  It is now available for Android, but I ran into an issue to get it listed in the Apple Store that I am still working with.  We will soon be joining the extensive world of the technology cloud in the sky.  Along with technology, thank you so much to all of you who have regularly updated your web pages and would like to encourage everyone to keep up the good web page work.

PTA Funding Note:  The PTA has provided funds to each grade level.  I would encourage you to use it as a grade level rather than individually.  The intent of the funding from the PTA was to provide enough funding to purchase something nice for the entire grade that was agreed upon.  If the funds are split, it dilutes the funding.

I hope you all have a fantastic weekend!
