Happy FRIDAY to everyone!  I would like to thank all of you for your participation in Red Ribbon Week.  I appreciate Mrs. Niles and the PTA all of all of their work in putting things together.

Just a reminder that there will be a Living Historical Interpreter that Mr. Seely has arranged to come to our school to provide an assembly for 4th and 5th grades.  This person will act out various historical time periods and interact with students in character.  Should be a wonderful opportunity.

With Halloween coming up next week, please remind students and parents in your next newsletter that we will not be dressing up for Halloween.

I have arranged with the SUU Hispanic Center to take in several volunteers to help in our building.  I have placed many of them in your classes.  Please let me know if you have a need for a volunteer in your classroom.  I will need to know the times and days to see which volunteers will meet your needs.

Thank you so much for all you do.  I feel that we have made huge strides in how we are collaborating.  I appreciate the PLC agendas that you have been turning in to me via your grade level chair.  I place them in my binder to help keep track.

I would like to thank all of you who attended our ESL Night last night.  We had a wonderful turnout with about 120 in attendance.  I appreciate those who encouraged their students and families to attend.  It allowed a wonderful opportunity to provide information on the programs we offer in our school and rub shoulders with some of our wonderful families.

Next week is Red Ribbon Week.  I know that the Tuesday rotation will interfere with reading interventions in the younger grades, but I know that various people in the community will be here to help students understand the dangers of drugs…  As far as avoiding the conflict next year, we will work to have the rotation on Wednesday if it is something we do next year.  With the hero dress up day, lets encourage our students to focus mainly on hats as the dress up item.  As a staff, please be sure to wear shirt, shoes, and socks.  On Wednesday, you are able to schedule your readathon into your school day in a way that will work best for your schedule.  I appreciate the PTA for all their time and effort in planning out our Red Ribbon Week.

In our next AR assembly, we will be drawing names for perfect attendance and no tardies.  The names drawn will have pizza with the Principal on the following Monday.

Many have asked about donations for the Strand family.  A memorial fund has been set up at Wells Fargo under the name of Andrew Strand.  I would like to thank all of you who have helped to support the Strands, it was such a wonderful thing to see so many of you at the viewing last night.

I hope you all had a wonderful a wonderful week full of excitement.  I want to thank all those who were willing to sign up to help with the fall carnival.  I know the PTA appreciates any support we are able to provide and I hope that you will have a few minutes to stop by the carnival Saturday.

I want to pass on a reminder that we will be having our ESL Night Tuesday at 5:30 PM.   If you would please encourage your ESL students and their parents to attend.  Any of you are welcome to attend as well.  If you are a member of the ESL Committee, I would love to have you there to help out if your schedule would allow it.

I’m sorry I don’t have anything too exciting to share this week, just the hope that you take time to have a fantastic weekend and enjoy your families.

I would like to thank all of you for all of your hard work with SEPs this week.  I know that everyone puts in a tremendous amount of extra time and work.  Thank you!

Boilers – The boilers that heat the building are under repair.  District maintenance has been working on them, but they are still waiting for a part to fix them.  I am sorry for the lack of heat.

Next weekend is our fall carnival.  If you would please encourage your students to attend.  I would love to see you there if your schedule permits.  It is a wonderful way to show support to our PTA who has worked so hard to put together the carnival to help raise funds for our school.

Please notice that our staff-student soccer game will be Friday afternoon.  Those who plan on playing are welcome to wear a soccer jersey that day.

Thanks for allowing Mrs. Willis and myself time with your classes over the past few weeks to talk over school expectations.  We have been able to visit grades 3-5 so far.  We hope to be able to finish the K-2 this upcoming week.

Thanks for all you do. I am grateful to work with such wonderful people.
