5/19-5/23

I hope you are all ready for a wonderful last week of school!  I wanted to thank all of you for all of the hard work on field day.  It sounds like all of our students, K-5, had a wonderful time.  It was a great energy release and the weather could not have been better.

Good news!  Our 3rd grade met the required growth goal on DIBBELS that we needed for our K-3 Literacy.  This will now be averaged in to the District data used to determine K-3 literacy funding.  I know it was a huge stress, so thank you third grade teachers and all those involved in intervention.  Great job!

Please take a few minutes to review the schedule for this week.  We have several events coming up.

I hope to have the student schedules put together by tomorrow.  You should see your lists soon.

Thank you so much for all you have done this year.  Mr. Moyle will have the opportunity of working with the best staff in the district.  It is hard to imagine that there could possibly be a group that cares more for kids than each of you.  Just to test your resolve and commitment to East Elementary, I would recommend that an East Elementary tattoo with the school motto be placed in an inconspicuous place on the body as a reminder of your commitment.  Just a suggestion, not a requirement.  I don’t believe that Legislative reimbursement could be used to pay for it though.

As busy as things were Friday, I forgot to put together my newsletter.  I wanted to thank all those who participated in the staff-student softball game.  It is nice to change things up a little this time of year and give students a break from testing and their hard work.

It looks like everything is ready to go with field day this week.  Lower grades have shared their plans with me and the upper grades will be together again on the East side.   The weather should be perfect.

New hire – We have hired Marta Fernandez to replace Gema Perez this next year.  Like Gema, she comes to us from Spain with about 17 years of teaching experience.

According to my app, we have 9.2683 days, 222.4342 hours, 13345.8800 minutes, and 800737 seconds left.

Happy May to everyone!  I continue to be amazed at how fast time goes by, especially when you’re having a great time.

If you have time, there will be an orchestra concert Tuesday of next week at CMS.  It will begin at 6:00 PM and will be for all of the elementary orchestra students.  Kaer Neumann has done an excellent job with the orchestra this year.

Thank you to all of you who have undergone testing over the past several weeks with your classes.  The students seem to be well focused and not TOO stressed.

There has been some discussion about the possibility of a standards based report card for next year in Power School.  It would allow the grading to be more content specific as it relates to the core.  The school would not have to do it, but it would allow for more consistency in grading throughout the school.  I will pass more information on as it becomes available.

It should be a beautiful weekend.  I hope you get out and enjoy it.

Thanks for all you do!

I am amazed that we will be moving into our final four weeks of school.  It feels like time goes faster with each year.  Thank you for all of your hard work and hope you have enjoyed the year.  I love the quote that says, “So often we become so focused on the finish line that we fail to enjoy the journey” (Dieter F. Uchtdorf).  I hope we all take time to enjoy the journey along the way.

Just a reminder that faculty meeting was changed to this upcoming Wednesday to accommodate our yearly District spring visit.  Information on insurance… will be provided.

Just in case you were wondering, we have 20 days, 487.60 hours, and 29256.003 seconds left in the school year.

I hope you are all looking forward to a long weekend and have something rejuvenating planned after a short week this week.

By way of information, we are excited to bring KayLee Vogel on as a first grade teacher next year.  She is currently teaching in Price.  She will be a fantastic addition.  Nasrin Petersen will be joining our fourth grade.  She recently completed her student teaching assignment and we look forward to having her join our school as well.

I hope none of you had nightmares following our little dancing extravaganza Friday.  It could have been emotionally damaging to our students.  Let me know if anyone needs counseling.
