Have an incredible Christmas break!!!  You all deserve a long break.

I want to express appreciation for all of the help with the Santa Flight materials, popping of popcorn, and stuffing of Christmas bags.  It was so wonderful to have all of the help from the PTA and each of you.  I think I am officially “popcorned” out.

**Please notice that the date for Curriculum Night has been changed to Jan. 30th.  With SEPs occurring the first week in March, the last week of February turned out not to be a good date.  MLK Day is now back in our salary schedule, which means that we have those hours to work during the year.  We will be using 3 hours of the MLK Day hours for Curriculum Night.

I also want to thank the Social Committee for their work on our staff party.  I learned that you never know where your stuff will turn up.

I am so appreciative of what you all do.

I hope you are all ready for the last week of school for the year.  Thank you for all of your help in getting your students to the airport for the Santa Flight.  Despite the cold, I think we all had a wonderful time.  Also, thanks for brining your students back with you…

I want to remind everyone that we will have our staff party on Wednesday if you are able to make it.  We will also have our Christmas sing on Thursday and our Christmas movie Friday.  We will be watching Monsters University.  If you would please send any of your TAs down to help supervise the movie.

Christmas – Please send me names of families that could use help for Christmas.  If you have students that need winter clothing, please let me know when you send the names.  Just a reminder for Christmas treats.  At grade level, it was recommended that we do the treats in the faculty room rather than presents for each other.  It helps streamline the number of things that have to be done during Christmas.

I hope you have all had a chance to use Close Reading in your instruction.  I appreciate Mrs. Stokes for filling in for Mrs. Smith for the training this past week.

I hope you all have a fantastic weekend!

I hope you are all excited about our Santa Flight activity Tuesday.  I appreciate all of the time and effort by Angel Flight and the “future” Eagle Scouts.  Below is a map of where we will be lining up our students.  There is a bathroom in the Sphere One building if there is a need.  *Please remind students to dress WARM.  Also, we will need to board the busses as soon as they arrive at our school so we will arrive at the airport on time.  We will follow the fire engine carrying Santa, Mrs. Clause, and the elves, back to the school for a short assembly.   Please let me know if I need to clarify anything.

I hope you are prepared for the sacrifice of only having school for two days this upcoming week.  I appreciate your support of the “pie in the Principal’s face” activity.  Congratulations to Mrs. Stokes’ and Sauceda/Perez's classes for having the highest percent on reading calendar minutes and supplying students to do the pie in the face.  I look forward to taking one for the team.

I appreciate the trainings we have had on Close Reading.  I hope you are working it into your lesson schedule.  We will be doing a follow-up training Dec. 11th.  Mrs. Stokes will be conducting this training based on a training she attended this month.  If you would all please add the date to your schedule.

With Thanksgiving, I thought you might like this link.

I need to thank everyone for participating in the learning walks earlier this month.  I hope it was a good experience to see the ISTEP standards, as well as, to pick up a few good ideas from other teachers.  We will be organizing another learning walk for Nov. 25th.

Please make a note that we have an assembly this Friday because of Thanksgiving break.

After School Math Tutoring – Please encourage students who need help with math to attend the after school math tutoring in the library M, T, TH, F from 3:30-4:00.  If you have specific information that might be helpful to cover with your students during that time, please make contact with Mr. Jenkins.

Thanks for all you do.  When I need an attitude lift, all I have to do is spend a little time in your classrooms to see how awesome you all are to boost my attitude.  Thank you!
